Basic Timing Belt Math:
1) Broken Timing Belt = Tow Truck
2) Broken Timing Belt (May) = Destroyed Engine
Yup, no kidding. Please read on.
A little theory is in order. The timing belt synchronizes two rotating shafts; a crankshaft which controls the pistons and the camshaft which controls the valves. If the belt breaks the two shafts go out of sync and “BANG!” the valves hit the pistons, causing catastrophic engine damage. This doesn’t happened on every motor, but do you really want to take the chance?
