Lincolns Make Me Smile (1)
Hi, I’m Marty Fay the owner of Motor Works. We opened our doors to the DeKalb and Northern Illinois public in March, 1984. So, why do Lincolns make me smile? Let’s begin by saying one of my very first customers owned a lovely, 1975 Lincoln Continental Town Car. This car was yellow, 19½ feet long, had a huge 460 CID engine, and sported oval opera windows in the rear roof. I smile because a few years later I bought this car. There is more to this story. Inherently Versatile
Lincolns seem to poses some inherent versatility other large cars don’t. For many years they were the favorite transportation of Presidents, Generals and other high ranking government officials. This brand also supplies the predominant platform for limousine builders. Aftermarket companies have long based their executive armored cars on the Town Car, and even Ford is starting to produce a factory version: the Town Car BPS (Balistic Protection Series). Oh, and did I mention the original Batmobile from the TV series was based on the same famous marque, (smile!) Sorry about that, maybe I could have left out the last reference.

Yes indeed, I bought that yellow Lincoln. And loved every minute of driving it. The car was so big, speaking to backseat passengers caused a 10 second echo delay. With the front seat being six feet wide, I found I could take naps lying down when driving long distances. This allowed me to wake refreshed at my destination. Naturally, the car had its own zip code, and the cabin interior sometimes covered two time zones for hours while burning down the road at 80 MPH. And the trunk! Holly smokes, the trunk! I’ll never forget the morning I opened it, baseball bat in hand, after hearing loud noises issuing from within. Would you believe it? The entire state of New Jersey had moved in overnight. They were throwing a party and hadn’t even invited me. Well, maybe that does make sense. After all, I do live in Illinois. But what a great car!
